Charleston
Privacy Policy. Effective October 16, 2026.
Charleston ("Charleston," "we," "us") is an iOS app for practicing American mahjong, developed by Jonathan Carden, an individual developer. This policy explains what the app stores, what leaves your phone, and your choices.
Jonathan Carden, jon.carden@gmail.com. There is no separate company.
Charleston does not require an account and does not ask for your name or email address. The app stores these on your device only: your settings, your Daily Rack results, your streak, your history, your skill ratings, and any card you import. Turning off or deleting the app removes this data from your phone.
If you use "Import your card," the photos you choose are sent to our card reader server, which forwards them to Anthropic, the company that makes Claude, to read the card. Our server does not keep copies of the photos. Anthropic handles the photos under its own privacy and retention policies. Card import is available with a Plus subscription.
Subscriptions are bought and managed through Apple. We use RevenueCat to check whether your Plus subscription is active. RevenueCat receives purchase information and an anonymous app user identifier that is not tied to your name or email address.
If this policy changes, we'll update the date at the top and post the new version here.
